That’s why our sustainability strategy is championed at every level—board, divisional, and individual—and aims to inspire our people, clients, and peers as we strive for net-zero as a society.

At NJC, our partnership with Bunzl Cleaning and Hygiene Services is a reflection of our unwavering commitment to sustainability, innovation, and transparency. Together, we are driving forward on a path that not only benefits our clients but also helps safeguard the environment for future generations.

NJC recognises that climate change will not only impact our forests, coral reefs, wildlife, or even people in other countries, but all of us. To create a world where people, wildlife and nature can thrive, not only for us but for future generations, it is critical that businesses understand the importance of reducing their carbon footprint.

We’re making significant progress to achieving our carbon neutrality goal, with 408.286 tonnes of CO2e reduction in our 2022 UK scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions compared with 2019. This means that we’re on track to achieve a Net Zero climate-positive workforce by 2030.

As a Carbon Neutral Cleaning Provider, we pride ourselves on being COSHH-free and chemical-free. This ESG impact commitment ensures that our eco cleaning services always provide responsible, sustainable support services, helping our customers tackle their scope 3 challenges.

By eliminating hazardous substances and chemicals from our cleaning processes, we not only protect the health and safety of our team and clients, but we also significantly reduce our environmental impact.

Our social values are fundamental to our ESG impact. We are proud to have supported numerous charities and social events over the years. Our social value strategy emphasises the importance of providing employment opportunities to help local communities thrive. One of the charities we support is The Passage, which envisions a society free of street homelessness, where everyone has a place to call home. Based in Victoria, near our head office, we have contributed to this charity through fundraising, donating consumables, clothing, and shoes to help homeless individuals reintegrate into the workforce.

 Supporting people back into work is crucial, which is why we also assist Ukrainian refugees affected by the war, offering them employment opportunities at NJC.

Governance issues are the foundation for effective corporate and business ESG management. They provide the basis upon which CSR and sustainability activities can be built and evaluated.

Ensuring respect within the organisation is critical to embedding a diverse and inclusive workforce that does not discriminate against any groups. We support all diversity inclusion groups including ethnicity, gender, age, disability, LGBTQ+, socio-economic and others.
